Are you questioning whether or not dating someone with a disability is right for you? There are things in your lifestyle that need to be taken into consideration before making that leap.
Disabilities and diseases come in all forms and level of severity. It’s better to take an upfront approach and ask direct questions to the person you’re interested in about your curiosities. Are you all about extreme sports and climbing Mount Everest?
Personal care needs may be the most common reason that people will pass by a wheelchair user when looking for potential dates.
While there are people who do need daily assistance with their personal care needs that job will not fall on you. People with severe mobility limitations employ PCAs to help them with their basic daily needs.
VIA visual narratives were analyzed with Grounded Theory using NVivo.
Out of 14 participants, 11 (6 females) addressed issues surrounding romantic relationships and sexuality in their video clips.
From their first steps, to halloween costumes, to family vacations; from the career they will have, to finding the love of their life, to having kids of their own.
How would they feel when they found out that their little girl’s life wasn’t going to be exactly how they had envisioned it? We had never considered how, or if, our men being in wheelchairs had affected our parents and families; so we asked them. That guy can do more and does do more than most able bodied men. Absolutely, but not all your struggles will be because of Shawn’s wheelchair.
But that can be a mixed bag because facial attraction is so subjective, plus I’m no Brad Pitt.
After that, the hope has been to use my personality to charm them and get some chemistry going.
